Pick your arrival
From Austin-Bergstrom (AUS)
Rideshare or taxi — 15–20 minutes, $22–$32. Tell the driver “East 6th and Attayac” and watch for the mural wall. We’re the brick building with the hummingbird by the door.
Bus — $1.25, about 45 minutes. Route 20 leaves the terminal every 15 minutes and rolls straight down Riverside. Hop off at 7th & Pleasant Valley, walk six minutes north. Cheapest arrival in the city and a decent first look at it.
By bus or train
Greyhound & FlixBus land downtown near 9th & Brazos — a 6-minute rideshare or a 25-minute walk straight down 6th Street, which is a fine way to arrive with your eyes open.
Amtrak’s Texas Eagle pulls into the station on Lamar, 10 minutes by car. The 3 bus from downtown gets you within a five-minute walk for $1.25.
By car
From I-35, take exit 234A onto 6th Street and head east, across the highway, into the murals. We’re on the right just past Chicon — look for the hummingbird.
Parking: free street parking on the side streets (Attayac, Chicon) and a small guest lot behind the house — two spots, first come first served. During SXSW and ACL, leave the car parked and forget it exists.
Getting around once you’re here
On foot: the East 6th strip starts at our corner, downtown is 10 minutes west, Lady Bird Lake and the hike-and-bike trail are 15 minutes south.
Transit: the 4 and 17 buses stop within a block — $1.25 a ride, $2.50 for a day pass on the CapMetro app.
Bikes & scooters: a MetroBike dock sits at 6th & Chicon, and scooters swarm the corridor. We keep a pump, a patch kit, and a bike rack in the yard; lock up and you’re golden.
Late night: rideshare home from anywhere downtown runs $8–$14. Walk the strip in a group — it stays lit and lively until the venues close.
Found us? Good. Now find a bunk.
