The kitchen before the staff meal

Work where the work talks back.

Running a 22-bed hostel in the Marigny is hospitality at its most human. Here is what that means, and what is open now.

The honest pitch.

You will learn everyone’s name. You will give the same Frenchmen directions with fresh enthusiasm, and now and then settle a dispute about whose leftovers are whose. In exchange: above-median pay, schedules posted three weeks out, and a staff meal every Monday.

We hire for warmth first and train everything else. Hospitality experience helps; hospitality burnout helps more. People come here to remember why they liked the work.

How we treat the crew.

  • Pay above the city’s hospitality median, reviewed every January
  • Schedules three weeks ahead, never a close followed by an open
  • Paid time off from day one, health stipend after 90 days
  • One paid week off every September, when the house closes
  • Festival-season bonuses when the city runs hot
