The short version of the story, the numbers you’ll want, and who to email for everything else.

Saltline Lodge, in one paragraph.

Saltline Lodge is a fourteen-room lodge on the working harbor in Rockport, Maine, kept in an 1874 shipwright’s house. Reopened in 2019 after a three-year restoration, it offers harbor-view rooms and a top-floor loft, a cooked breakfast that runs on the guests’ clock, and a simple premise: the coast doesn’t perform, and neither do we.

The numbers journalists ask for.

  • Opened: June 2019, after a three-winter restoration. The house first took paying guests in 1919.
  • The building: An 1874 shipwright’s house: hand-set cedar shingles, wide pine floors, original wavy glass, and the faint salt line on the harbor face that gave the lodge its name.
  • Capacity: 14 rooms sleeping up to 28: Harbor View Kings, Garden Doubles, the Captain’s Suite, and the Crow’s Nest loft.
  • Rates: Rooms from $155, the Crow’s Nest from $310, before tax. Breakfast always included.
  • Location: 18 Harbor Loop Rd, Rockport. Six minutes on foot to the village landing, ten to Bearskin Neck.
  • House rituals: First pot on the deck at 6:30, Saturday harbor sails in season, Soup Sundays all winter.
  • Off-season: Full-lodge buyouts November to April; the lodge closes two weeks each January.

Kind words we didn’t pay for.
