Work
Fog over the water, the bridge fading out

18 Harbor Loop Road, Rockport, Maine.

The last mile is the pretty part. Here is every way to reach it, and how to get around once the car is parked.

Three airports, one short hop.

Knox County Regional (RKD), 15 minutes. Small planes fly from Boston Logan several times a day, and the approach over Penobscot Bay is worth the fare. With a little notice, we pick you up.

Portland International Jetport (PWM), about 1 hour 45 minutes. The most common route. Rental cars are easy, and the drive up US-1 is the scenic one.

Boston Logan (BOS), about 3 hours 45 minutes. Workable if you are combining us with Boston. Leave before 2 p.m. or after 6.

US-1 is slower, and better.

From the south: I-95 to Augusta, then Route 17, or stay coastal on US-1 through the towns. In Rockport, follow signs to the harbor. Harbor Loop Road rings the water; we are the shingled house with the flag, just past the marine park.

From the north: US-1 south, about 90 minutes of bridges and blueberry stands. You pass through Camden, seven minutes from us.

Parking: our lot sits behind the house, one space per room, free. Level 2 EV charging on the side of the carriage shed; tell the desk and we will make sure it is open.

No car needed to arrive.

Train: the Downeaster runs from Boston North Station to Brunswick five times a day, about 3 hours 20. From Brunswick it is an hour by car; we can book a local car service that knows the house.

Coach: buses run Boston to Portland to Rockland several times a day. Get off in Rockland, ten minutes south, call the desk, and we will come collect you.

Seasonal ferries run to the islands from Rockland and Lincolnville. Tell us your sailing and we will time your check-in to the dock.

Most guests don’t touch their keys until checkout.

On foot: the village landing in 6 minutes, Bearskin Neck in 10, the best chowder window in 11. Rockport is small, level, and lit at night.

Bikes: a small fleet of town bikes with baskets, free for guests. The shore road to Camden is the ride everyone writes home about.

By car: Camden Hills State Park in 10 minutes, Rockland’s museums in 12. The desk keeps a marked-up map with the farm stands circled.

In winter: the village stays open, the roads are plowed early, and the lodge keeps a shovel brigade.
