Clay Queen

The alley-facing queens are the ones people book for work weeks. A writing table sits against the original pour-wall brick, the bath looks into a chimney flue we left unpainted, and the blackout lining holds against the sodium lamps in the loading court. Clay is the quietest of the twelve.

The largest queen. One wall is still the pattern-loft timber where templates for ship hardware hung. No street noise, no alley trucks. The tradeoff is less view and more wood.

Looks onto 3rd and the hotel’s own brass doors. The freight elevator shaft is on this side, and after 10 it is audible. The desk will say so when you book. Light sleepers should take Clay or Pattern.

The largest room in the building. A nine-foot desk for people who actually work here, a king, a daybed, and a bath with both a tub and a shower. If the engine shows it sold, call: it may only be held.

Check-in / out
Check-in 3pm, check-out 11am. Early bags go in the hold. Late checkout is $45 when the next guest is not already booked.
Weekend minimum
Two nights on Friday and Saturday arrivals, year-round. Holiday weeks can run three.
Tax and fees
15.3% Portland tax plus an $18 destination fee per night. The engine shows the total before you pay.
Cancellation
Full refund up to 48 hours before 3pm on your arrival day. Inside that window we keep the first night.
Pets
One dog under 40 lb, $45 per stay. Not left alone in the room during dinner service if it barks at the freight elevator.
Children
Welcome. Rollaway $35 in the queens. The lofts have steep stairs, and we will say so twice.
Smoking
Outside, in the loading court. Smoking indoors carries a $250 deep-clean charge.
Parking
Hotel lot on SE 3rd, $18 a night, gated after 10pm. Height clearance 7'2".

Will I hear the freight elevator?
On the Third Ave side after 10pm, yes. It is original and it is loud. Light sleepers should take Clay or Pattern, and the desk will say so without being asked.
How steep are the loft stairs?
Steep. Steel, open risers, one handrail. If knees are a concern, book a queen on one level and visit the lofts never.
Where does a third guest sleep?
A $35 rollaway in the queens. Foundry Suite has a daybed and Corner East has a real sofa bed. Corner West and the Charge Suite sleep two.
Is the “river glimpse” real?
A strip of the Willamette between warehouse roofs, on a clear afternoon, from Water King. That is the whole view. We will not call it riverfront.
Why is breakfast not included?
Because the kitchen is a dinner kitchen. Coffee is in the lobby from 6:30, and the desk keeps a short list of bakeries within ten minutes on foot.
Can I book a specific room by name?
Yes. Pick it in the engine, or call the desk and ask for it. The desk can also see suites the engine shows as sold when they are only held.
