The alley-facing queens are the ones people book for work weeks. A writing table sits against the original pour-wall brick, the bath looks into a chimney flue we left unpainted, and the blackout lining actually holds against the sodium lights in the loading court. Twelve Foundry Queens share this plan; Clay is the quietest of them.

Belmont Queen

East windows over Belmont. You will hear the 15 bus and the bakery next door at 6:15, which some guests treat as a free alarm. Same queen mattress as Clay, a slightly wider desk, and a bath with a rain shower instead of the chimney view. Request this one if you want morning light and do not mind a little street.

Pattern Queen

The largest queen. One wall is still the pattern-loft timber where templates for ship hardware hung. No street noise, no alley trucks. The tradeoff is less view and more wood. Couples who stay three nights usually ask for this one on the second visit.

Third Ave Queen

Looks onto 3rd and the hotel’s own brass doors. You can watch arrivals from the window if that amuses you. The freight elevator shaft is on this side; after 10 it is audible. Dana’s desk will say so when you book. If you sleep light, take Clay or Pattern instead.

Steel stair to a sleeping platform, sofa below, king on the mezzanine. The original iron window frame is still in the west wall. Ten Loft Kings share the double-height plan; 12 is the one with the longest west light in winter.

Loft 14

The room Marcus H. keeps reviewing. Slightly more floor than 12, the iron window looking onto the foundry roof, and a reading chair that has outlasted two upholstery jobs. Weekend two-night minimum still applies. The stair is steep; if knees are a concern, book a queen on one level.

Truss King

The biggest loft. A timber truss runs over the bed; we left it because hiding it would have been the dishonest renovation. North light, cooler in August, a soaking-depth tub instead of a rain shower. Photographers book this one for the truss and then complain, kindly, that the room is hard to leave.

Water King

On a clear afternoon you can see a strip of the Willamette between the warehouse roofs. That is the whole view, and we will not sell it as a riverfront panorama. Same king, same stair, a desk that faces the window so you can watch weather instead of a courtyard.

Sitting room, king behind a sliding timber door, sofa that is a real bed for a third person. Looks toward OMSI and the river cut. Six suites in the house; East is the one families book when someone needs a door that closes.

Corner West

The downtown-facing corner. Sitting room with two chairs that have absorbed entire rainy afternoons, a king, and a bath with a window. No sofa bed. Couples who are not going out book West and eat at The Charge two of the three nights.

Charge Suite

Next to the charging ovens that now hold the kitchen. You will smell oak when The Charge is firing, Wednesday through Sunday. Soaking tub in the bath, sitting room, king. If you want silence more than atmosphere, take Corner West instead.

Foundry Suite

The largest room in the building. A nine-foot desk for people who actually work here, a king, a daybed, and a bath with both a tub and a shower because we got tired of arguing about it. Books last among the suites. If you need it, call the desk; the engine sometimes shows it as sold when it is only held.

- Private bath Rain shower or tub, depending on the room. House-made soap. Hair dryer that is not in a wall holster from 2004.
- Fast Wi-Fi Named network per floor. The desk will print a boarding pass if your laptop is being theatrical.
- Coffee at 6:30 Heart beans in the lobby. Full breakfast is not included; The Charge does not fire until 5:30, and only Wednesday through Sunday.
- Blackout lining Tested against June light and the loading-court sodium lamps.
- Luggage hold Before check-in and after 11am checkout. The desk is staffed around the clock.
House rules
The boring page, written plainly
- Check-in 3pm, out 11am. Early bags go in the hold. Late checkout is $45 when the next guest is not already on the books.
- Two-night minimum on Friday and Saturday arrivals, year-round. Holiday weeks can run three.
- Tax & fees. 15.3% Portland tax plus $18 destination fee per night. The engine shows the total before you pay.
- Cancellation. 48 hours before 3pm arrival for a full refund. Inside that window we keep the first night.
- Pets. One dog under 40 lb, $45 per stay, not left in the room during The Charge’s dinner service if it barks at the freight elevator.
- Smoking. Outside, in the loading court. Indoor smoking is a deep-clean charge of $250.
- Children. Welcome. Rollaway $35. The lofts have steep stairs; we will say so twice.
The pour floor is lit. Your key can be too.
Reserve on the hotel’s engine. We hold the key at the desk with a marked map of the district and tomorrow’s rain, copied off the NWS Portland forecast, not an app screenshot.
