On foot from 831 SE 3rd

Eastbank Esplanade

West to the river path. Dawn is quieter, and you share it with rowers instead of rental scooters.

Burnside Bridge, east end

North on 3rd. Coffee on East Burnside is twelve minutes; the stools are gone by 8:45 on weekdays.

Division and SE 11th

11 min

South past Hawthorne. Dumpling and noodle rooms on 11th run late; the desk keeps the current list.

OMSI and the Orange Line

South on 3rd, then Water. The MAX stop at OMSI/SE Water is eight minutes if you would rather ride.

Revolution Hall

18 min

The old high school on SE Stark. Shows let out late; the walk back is well lit until the last warehouse block.

Downtown, over the river

20 min

Over the Burnside Bridge, or the Steel Bridge lower deck if you want the water the whole way.

Most guests park once and walk or ride for the rest of the stay.

Central Eastside is still zoned for making things. You will hear a forklift at 7am and a band loading out at 12:40. The foundry sat empty for twenty-six years partly because this was not a postcard neighborhood. It still is not, which is the point of staying here.

Coffee

East Burnside is twelve minutes and busy by 8:45. There is a quieter laptop café on 10th. Lobby coffee is poured from 6:30.

Dinner when we are dark

The Charge is closed Monday and Tuesday. The desk keeps three neighbors on the card and will call ahead to see who has a table.

River

The Esplanade at dawn. The bridges look better then, and the path is yours until the commute starts.

Train

MAX Orange Line at OMSI/SE Water, eight minutes on foot. Skip the car unless you are leaving the city.

Night

The district still pours after 11. Ask the desk for rooms that are not on the apps. We will not send you somewhere that stiffed a cook.

Rain

The desk keeps umbrellas and prints tomorrow’s forecast onto the map it hands you with your key.
